Holidays With Help
Holidays with Help provide respite care breaks for disabled people and their carers.
The charity was founded in 2000 by our President, Mrs Rosemary McIntyre MBE and our Patrons are Miss Nanette Bryce MBE, JP and Mrs Mary Baker MBE. All of our Trustees and helpers are volunteers and we raise our own funds for equipment, expenses and the administration of the charity through donations and fund-raising events
Our breaks are organised at specific times of the year in comfortable accommodation at holiday villages with ensuite bathrooms, TV and tea and coffee making facilties. Three meals a day are provided including vegetarian options.
Groups, individuals, couples or families
As well as groups, we welcome bookings from single people, couples or families who can enjoy a holiday, safe in the knowledge that adequate care and support is in place through trained and experienced helpers. Medical and nursing advice is available should it be needed, together with friendly and caring helpers trained in wheelchair management. Mobility scooters and wheelchairs are also available for hire.
As support systems are provided by trained helpers, carers do not have to accompany guests but are very welcome if they wish to do so. A full consultation is carried out with all prospective guests prior to booking to ensure that all their needs can be met. Where applicable, helpers with specific experience of ethnic groups would be available. In the past, we have welcomed guests with Indian, Armenian, Bosnian and Kurdish backgrounds.
Entertainment and leisure
Guests on our holidays can enjoy a wideranging choice of indoor and outdoor activities such as archery, canoeing, arts and crafts and beauty care, plus a full day and evening programme of competitions, music and cabaret.
Visits to local places of interest and shopping trips are organised during the week using special coaches with tail lifts.
Consultations are carried out with all guests prior to booking to ensure that their needs can be met. This includes medical and dietary requirements, necessity for a translator and any other specific needs.
Holiday locations and what’s included
We use holiday villages on the South Coast and West Coast of England. The holiday prices include three meals a day, entertainment, leisure facilities, support from trained and experienced helpers and VAT.
